JASPER — Harley Hillenburg went 5-0 with three pins at the 285-pound weight class to highlight a 3-2 day for the Bloomington South wrestling team at the Jasper 6-Way meet on Saturday.

The Panthers beat the host Wildcats 60-9, held off No. 14 Hobart, 37-36, and beat Castle, 39-33, with two pins in the last two matches by Luke Hensley and Tyler Schlegel. South also fell to No. 6 Evansville Mater Dei, 45-16, and Jeffersonville, 39-33.

South had to overcome forfeits at 113 all day due to an injury to Will Hays, while Hunter Jackson (195) also missed the trip to injury.,

"I thought overall, we competed fairly well even though we're dealing with some injuries," South coach Mike Runyon said.

Hillenburg had three pins on the day. Five other Panthers went 4-1, including Xavier Guess at 132, Noah Hunt at 138, Derek Blubaugh at 145, Hensley at 170 and Schlegel at 182.

"Harley's being smart and wrestling aggressive," Runyon said. "Luke Hensley had a superb day.

"Tyler Schlegel also came up big today. He's wrestling well and he's wrestling smart. He had a good day."

Guess's lone loss, a 15-1 major, came to No. 10 Eli Dickens of Mater Dei, with the sixth-ranked Hunt dropping a 6-1 decision to Mater Dei's seventh-ranked Matt Lee, who was seventh in the state at 126 last year. Blubaugh, ranked ninth, was upset by Castle's Robert Deters, 4-3. Hensley took his loss at the hands of Hobart's No. 2 Zack Fattore, who was fourth at state last year, via pin. Schlegel lost 10-3 to Julian Gonzales of Jeffersonville.

In the match against Castle, a forfeit to Wade Presson at 160 set up the exciting finish as Hensley came up with a pin, then Schlegel pinned 15th-ranked Will Nunn to score the winning points. Schlegel's 4-2 decision also capped the scoring for South against Hobart, with an earlier major decision by Nicholas Weaver at 126 also adding another critical four points.
